memorial scholarship
The Mary Ann Hogan Memorial Scholarship was established in July 2013 when Mary passed away after fighting a courageous three year battle with metastatic breast cancer.
This scholarship will be awarded to a deserving member of the Schenectady High School graduating class, who is also a member of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Schenectady.
The sole purpose is to reward a young student who exemplifies the same qualities and courageous attitude that Mary portrayed throughout her 62 years on earth.
Despite being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2010, Mary never let the disease define her. Mary's love and loyalty to her family was the primary focus of her life. Her bubbly personality reached the lives of everyone she came in contact with, even strangers. Mary's infectious smile, love, devotion and caring attitude toward others defined who she was. She was a constant giver and showed that when she donated her body to Albany Medical Center to be studied.
The family hopes that through this scholarship fund, her legacy will continue to impact the lives of many, and in this case, young women in the Capital Region.
